Holy Family University Awarded Aim & Attain Near Completer Grant

Holy Family University will partner with the Bucks County Workforce Development Board in support of a $1.3 million Aim & Attain Near Completer Grant.

The grant will benefit former Holy Family University and other Pennsylvania undergraduate students who were near degree completion, but withdrew from the University prior to obtaining their diplomas or certificates.  Funding was secured through the Bucks County Department of Workforce and Economic Development (WED). The monies were awarded from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry (L&I).

The program goal is for eligible students to earn credentials, obtain appropriate training, immediately enter the job market, and earn a living wage in high-priority occupations.

Eligibility requirements include Pennsylvania residency, prior enrollment in an accredited higher education institution, disengagement from school without earning a credential, and a grade point average of 2.0 or higher upon exit. Exit from college must have been June 1, 2021 or later. FAFSA completion may be required. Eligible students must be able to complete a degree or certification by June 30, 2024.

Among benefits offered by the Aim & Attain Near Completer Grant, and through supportive services provided by PA CareerLink® Bucks County, Holy Family, and other college participants will benefit from:

According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median weekly earnings for someone with some college but no degree was $877 in 2020 compared to $938 for someone with an associate degree. Concurrently, the unemployment rate dropped from 8.3% to 7.1% when someone had an associate degree. Data indicates that with postsecondary education, wages rise, and unemployment drops.
